This timeline presents multiple clippings from 1954 - 1969 Vistazo magazines. Vistazo is the most popular politics and entertainment magazine in Ecuador. All these images exemplify a construction of a colonial narrative that admires the progress of technology, admiration for guns and weaponry produced in the US, the creation of a desire for a hyper-masculinist lifestyle. Some clippings are taken from LIFE magazine from the year 1954. These show an encounter between American christian missionaries with Ecuadorian amazonian tribes.
How much of a surprise it was to find a rich continent, fertile and prosperous. This was a prize to his faith, constance and effort.
